The future about an ageing population

Some facts about the future about an ageing population: (1) Whilst the number of people in the age group 0-29 is expected to rise from 24 million to 25.9 million between 2014 and 2039, those aged 60 and over is predicted to increase from 14.9 million to 21.9 million. (2) By 2040 nearly one in seven people will be aged over 75. (4) The proportion of the working age population aged between 50 and the state pension age will increase from 26% in 2012 to 35% in 2050; an increase of approximately 8 million people.
